Rachel Chapman and Jessica Ovey have produced artwork to allow you to fill your minds with those things that bring a sense of beauty. Mainly scenes of natural landscapes, the artists encourage you to focus on what is worthwhile and hope it gives you time out to reflect on where those places are which you go to, whether external or internal, by which you experience a lift in mind and spirit. 

Artist: Jessica Ovey
Jessica lives in Wakefield.  Since completing her Fine Art degree at Leeds Metropolitan University she has exhibited paintings and drawings; trained and worked as an archive conservator for ten years and is currently a full time mum, snatching opportunities to paint.  She loves landscapes such as the Lake District where she draws outside in front of the view to capture a particular moment of shifting weather and light.  Rarely returning to rework a piece, it is completed on the spot.  She enjoys mixing media on paper and the textures, layers and resists caused by their response to one another.

Artist: Rachel Chapman
Rachel lives in Wakefield. She has been a primary school teacher here for approximately 12 years. Rachel studied art to Advanced level and has continued to pursue her love of art through art classes and painting at home.  Originally from Derbyshire, this is where her love for natural landscape began. She finds the ever changing skies and seasons enthralling. The scenes conveyed are of a moment in time when Rachel has experienced a sense of peace or wonder at the natural beauty surrounding her.  She works from photographs she has taken at the scene and uses the laptop to zoom in closer to reveal more of the interesting details which cannot always be viewed from a distance.

Run by Adult Education Service
The group is the Advanced Art group from Manygates Centre.
This is a fee paying course and targeted at those with considerable previous art experience.
The class is held every Tuesday morning. Most of the work produced is made independently by students in their own time. 
In other words it does not simply rely on class time to produce work.
Students are given a theme - this term it was Diptych and are asked to interpret this through their own research and idea development.
The group will be showing work based on the theme of Diptych.
Basically a two panelled painting or piece of work.
This is an Advanced group and a number of them have experience to quite a high level in art education.
